High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed news of an agreement between Stagecoach, Transport for Greater Manchester, and Derbyshire County Council to continue operating the 237, 341, and 358 bus services.
The funding agreement runs until January 2025 and covers all cross-border bus services, including the 237, 341, 394, and 358 services.
This follows a public meeting last month organised by New Mills resident Steve Grieve and attended by the local MP to save the 358 bus.
In addition, the 199 bus service to Manchester Airport has been restored following representations by Mr Largan to Transport for Greater Manchester. Buses are scheduled to run every 30 minutes Monday to Friday.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“This is great news for High Peak residents. I am really pleased to have been able to work with Derbyshire County Council and local residents & to fight to protect the 237, 341, and 358 bus services.
“I want to thank all those involved, especially Steve Grieve who organised a public meeting last month & has been leading the charge to protect the 358.
“I’m so glad we’ve got the right outcome on local public transport. Now we can focus on trying to extend and improve services.
“This shows what we can achieve when we work together!”
