Local MP Robert Largan has praised the work of the Zink Project in Buxton during a recent visit to see how the construction of their new community hub is progressing.
The Zink project is part of High Peak Foodbank. Their aim is to help anyone who needs support getting a job and becoming financially independent. Many community organisations and charities in the High Peak, like the Zink Project, stepped up during the pandemic to service local needs as demand surged for their services.
The new premises are being built to meet the increased demand from the pandemic. It will become a community hub helping those in the High Peak who have become unemployed, experiencing isolation, or have poor mental health to get the support they need.
The Zink Project recently helped local employers take advantage of the Government’s Kickstart Scheme in the High Peak. This £2 billion scheme supports young people, the most at risk of long-term unemployment, into six-month placements across the private, public, and voluntary sectors.
Robert Largan MP for High Peak Said:
“I visited the Zink Project in Buxton to see how construction is going for the new Community Hub in Buxton.
“The Zink Project do vital work helping people back into work and providing support to the most vulnerable.
“The new hub will be open to all and include an eco-cafe, well-being activities, a job agency, music therapy, a Foodbank, and an enterprise area for people who want to become self-employed.
“It’s a fantastic project, and good progress is being made. It’s going to be a huge asset for Buxton and the whole High Peak.”
