Local MP, Robert Largan, is urging local Glossop residents to respond to a newly submitted major planning application in the area.
The application is to convert Easton House into apartments, as well as to build 25 new houses and two new apartment blocks on the same site. In total, there would be 98 new houses and apartments on the former Easton Mill site.
Easton House was offloaded by Labour-controlled High Peak Borough Council to a private buyer in the early 2010s and left to fall into ruin since then. This application would make use of the whole Easton Mill site, which is currently derelict and overgrown.
The application number is HPK/2022/0317 and residents can see full details of the application at www.tinyurl.com/eastonapplication
Speaking about the application, Robert Largan MP said:
“Easton House has been an eyesore for years. I live just a short walk from the site and I am glad that plans have finally been brought forward to rejuvenate it.
“However, I am concerned at the scale of the proposed development, with almost 100 new homes built near the centre of Glossop, putting further pressure on local infrastructure and public services. This is on top of a number of other major developments locally.
“I would strongly urge residents to send their views on the application to the Council as soon as possible. They can do so by emailing the Council at [email protected]
“Please also let me know what you think about the application, by emailing me at [email protected].“
