Hayfield residents have been worried about the future of much loved local pub, The Royal Hotel.
Robert Largan MP has been working with residents to try and secure the future of the popular local venue, located at the heart of the village.
The Royal Hotel’s future has been cast into doubt give that current publicans Lisa & Mark Miller are retiring upon the expiry of their lease.
There have also been concerns about proposals to install a concrete barrier or bollards at the entrance to the pub car park, which would have sealed off access for vehicles. This would have caused huge problems for Hayfield Cricket Club, which is accessible through the car park.
Following concerns being raised about both the re-opening of the pub and access to Hayfield Cricket Club being maintained through the car park, Mr Largan entered into discussions with Criterion Asset Management, who are responsible for management of the pub under remit provided by the Wellington Pub Company.
The High Peak MP urged them to work with him and local residents to get the pub open again, and to maintain access to the cricket club through the car park.
Following Mr Largan’s representations, Criterion Asset Management have confirmed they will now not be blocking off the car park. Access will be retained under their latest plans.
Criterion Asset Management have confirmed that The Royal Hotel is available to let with Savills and that the letting details are live on the Savills' website here:

The person to contact is Tony Hunter at Savills' Manchester office. Wellington are keen to re-let the Royal Hotel as soon as possible but this is dependent on suitable applicants.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I am really sad to see Mark and Lisa go and I wish them the best for their retirement.
“The Royal Hotel is a great pub, right in the heart of the village, and it is really important that new management can be found for the pub as soon as possible.
“I will continue to do all I can to work with everyone in the village to get The Royal open again as quickly as possible.”
