Local MP Robert Largan has announced that he will be hosting the first-ever High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair.
The event will take place on Friday 29th October 2021 at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School from 10 am until 2 pm and will be open to all High Peak residents with free admission.
Robert is working with local job centres, local authorities, charities and other partners to put on this special jobs fair and provide a valuable opportunity to help local people get a job or apprenticeship and build their careers.
The High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair will bring together high-quality employers from in and around the High Peak, including JCB, Manchester Airport, Tarmac, Federal Mogul (Ferodo), Mitie, High Peak Borough Council, Derbyshire Police and many more, providing the ideal opportunity for school leavers and jobseekers alike to talk to employers offering jobs and apprenticeships.
In addition, the event will include:
• Free Job Skills Workshop run by The Zink Project
• Apprenticeships Advice from the Apprenticeships Support & Knowledge Programme
• Interview & CV-Writing Skills from Buxton & Leek College.
There will be a Kickstart stall offering placements at a range of employers. The £2 billion Kickstart Scheme puts young people right at the heart of our economic recovery by supporting those at risk of long-term unemployment into six-month placements across the private, public and voluntary sectors.
Derbyshire County Council will also be providing a pop-up stall for impartial adult careers advice, offering enrolment onto adult education employability programmes.
There will be free parking at the event, and Robert has organised free transport from Buxton, Dove Holes, Glossop, and New Mills will be available on the day of the event, in order to ensure that all High Peak residents can access the opportunities available at this event.
More than 100 seats will be available on a first come, first served basis from across the High Peak, on two Golden Green coaches. The departure times are as follows:
• Buxton (Market Place) at 9:30am
• Dove Holes (Bus Depot) at 9:40am
• Glossopdale School at 9:30am
• Glossop (Henry Street) at 9:35am
• New Mills (Union Road) at 9:50am
Both coaches will return from Chapel-en-le-Frith High School at 2pm.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I’ve been working on this for many months and I’m really excited to finally be able to announce the first-ever High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair. I hope that this event will help lots of local people into work or to secure an apprenticeship.
“It’s open to all High Peak residents, from school leavers to long term jobseekers to those looking for a career change or to re-train.
“This is all part of my efforts to help the High Peak to build back better at a critical time in our post-pandemic recovery.
“I would encourage any businesses or organisations that would like to attend to get in touch to register your interest. I hope to see as many of you there as possible.”
