MP for High Peak Robert Largan has urged UK Parking Control to take urgent action to remedy their inadequate camera recording system at the Howard Town Mill car park in Glossop.
A number of incorrectly issued parking notices have been brought to the attention of UK Parking Control, a high volume of which have been cancelled following Mr Largan’s interventions.
UK Parking Control have since admitted that their camera system is not completely accurate and that their system is not of sufficient quality to accurately monitor the Howard Town Mill car parking site.
Robert Largan MP has written a public letter to UK Parking Control, calling for them to take appropriate action to remedy the system faults as a matter of urgency.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“Due to inadequacies in the UK Parking Control ANPR system, a number of incorrect fines are being issued when people enter at one entrance and leave via the other.
“These fines are causing significant distress and inconvenience to local residents, with many belatedly informing me that they felt pressured into paying the fine to avoid further costs or legal action.
“When so many fines are regularly issued incorrectly, I believe that UK Parking Control have a responsibility to take action to prevent this.
“I am calling for UK Parking Control to urgently review their camera systems and enforcement equipment at Howard Town Mill to put an end to these repeated incorrect fines.”
