Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, today congratulated two local good causes as they received a welcome funding boost thanks to players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Buxton Town Team was recently awarded £1,982 from Postcode Local Trust.
The funding will go towards its ‘Homes for Wildlife in Ashwood Park’ project, which aims to encourage more wildlife into Buxton, by installing bird and bat boxes into Ashwood Park—a large green space that connects the town centre with the countryside.
Kinder Mountain Rescue Team was recently awarded £2,828 from Postcode Community Trust.
The funding the organisation received will be used to purchase lighter, more advanced equipment to use when responding to emergencies, helping to save lives. The equipment is estimated to last for over 10 years, and will be deployed on every call-out.
Congratulating the organisations, Robert Largan said:
“I’m delighted to hear that two local good causes in our community have been successful in securing funds from players of the People’s Postcode Lottery.
“These awards will make a real difference to the work these organisations are doing across the High Peak, and my thanks must go to players of the People’s Postcode Lottery for helping to make this possible.”
Since 2005, over £600 million has been raised for more than 8,500 charities and good causes by players of the People’s Postcode Lottery. This includes thousands of grassroots projects in communities across Britain.
The next opportunity for groups to apply for funding will be in early 2021. Those interested in the opportunity can find out more information by visiting the trusts’ websites:
