Robert Largan MP officially opened the Kickstart jobs event at The Palace Hotel in Buxton on Wednesday.
The event was organised by Jobcentre Plus and High Peak Borough Council, advertising vacancies at Buxton & Leek College, Ensana Buxton Crescent Hotel, Haddon Hall Care Home, Federal Mogul, Bradbury’s Cheese, and more.
The event was supported by the Government’s £2 billion Kickstart scheme, which puts young people right at the heart of our post-coronavirus economic recovery by supporting those at risk of long-term unemployment in six-month placements across the private, public and voluntary sectors.
Robert was able to talk to a range of local employers; meet with Jobcentre Plus work coaches; and encourage more businesses to exhibit at his own High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair next month.
Robert will be hosting the first-ever High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair on 29th October at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School from 10 am until 2 pm.
Robert Largan, MP for the High Peak, commented:
“I was so pleased to open the Jobs Recruitment & Kickstart event in Buxton this morning.
“I would like to thank the team at the Buxton Jobcentre Plus, who worked so hard to organise this event, which was a great chance for local people to talk to lots of local employers under one roof.
“It was also good to chat with local employers face-to-face, and to have even more sign up to my inaugural High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair next month.”
