Local MP Robert Largan has welcomed the announcement that Derbyshire Constabulary has been bolstered by an additional 211 officers as part of the Government’s drive to recruit 20,000 additional officers nationally by 2023.
The addition of these new officers brings the total number of police across Derbyshire Constabulary up to 1,971, meaning there are now more frontline officers on our streets to keep the public safe.
This recruitment drive is at the centre of the Government’s commitment to back the police with more resources, powers and support to keep the public and their communities safe.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I welcome the announcement that Derbyshire Police has been bolstered by an additional 211 officers since the Government launched its major police recruitment drive. Every one of these officers will make an enormous difference in helping to cut crime and keep people safe.
“Recruitment is continuing and I am working to ensure that High Peak gets its fair share of the additional officers being recruited. Many residents believe that Derbyshire Constabulary has overly focused on Derby and the south of the county and this imbalance needs correcting.
“Tackling crime and anti-social behaviour remains a key priority for me and I will continue to fight for more resources for our area.”
