MP for High Peak Robert Largan has welcomed UK Parking Control’s actions, taken to remedy their inadequate camera recording system at the Howard Town Mill car park in Glossop.
A number of incorrectly issued parking notices were brought to the attention of UK Parking Control, a high volume of which were repealed following Mr Largan’s interventions.
UK Parking Control then admitted that their camera system was not completely accurate nor of sufficient quality.
Mr Largan wrote a public letter to UK Parking Control, calling for them to take the appropriate action to remedy the system’s faults.
Following Mr Largan’s intervention, UK Parking Control’s operations team investigated the quality of the camera’s readings.
As a result of this intervention, UK Parking Control made suitable adjustments to ensure that the cameras are as accurate as can be and have cancelled all of the parking charge notices that appear to have been impacted as a result.
The cameras were corrected on 18th September 2022. Apart from one charge (due to the vehicle pulling a trailer) all the charges Mr Largan’s office brought to the attention of UK Parking Control issued prior to 18th September have subsequently been cancelled.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“UK Parking Control were monitoring the Howard Town Mill car park with equipment that was simply inadequate.
“This led to a number of incorrect fines being issued when people entered at one entrance and left via the other.
“Following my public letter and consistent contact with UK Parking Control, I am pleased that they have finally taken the appropriate action to fix the issue.
“It appears that the problem has now been resolved, but I will continue to monitor the situation and would encourage anyone who suspects that they have received an incorrect fine going forwards to contact my office.”
