High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed funding to deliver a new high-spec pump track in Bankswood Park in Hadfield, after he contacted the Council on behalf of residents asking for improvements to the park.
Following a successful funding application to British Cycling earlier this year, High Peak Borough Council is currently in the process of appointing a preferred supplier to construct the track. Works on the site are expected to commence in early Autumn for completion by the end of November.
The new pump track in Bankswood Park will complement existing skate parks at Manor Park and Newshaw Lane in Hadfield, providing high quality facilities for our young people.
This announcement follows Robert Largan MP’s petition on local playgrounds, having been contacted by many local residents keen to see improvements in play areas across the High Peak.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, said:
“Playgrounds are valuable community assets and provide vital spaces for our young people to exercise and play. That is why I am very pleased to welcome this funding for a new pump track in Hadfield.
“It is especially important for our young people to have access to such facilities in light of Team GB’s successes in Skateboarding and BMX at Tokyo 2020, which will undoubtedly inspire many people to take up these sports across the country.
“Lots of local residents have signed my petition on play areas to express their concern about the state of some playgrounds, so I wholeheartedly welcome these improvements to Bankswood Park, which I know will really benefit local people.”
