High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed funding to refurbish a play area in Heath Grove in Buxton. Funding for the upgrade was secured in High Peak Borough Council’s latest annual budget.
This follows Mr Largan, Kevin Kirkham and Councillor Linda Grooby’s campaign to improve play areas across the High Peak. The trio contacted the Council on behalf of local residents to ask for improvements to the park.
This announcement follows Robert Largan MP’s petition on local playgrounds, having been contacted by many residents’ keen to see improvements in play-areas across the High Peak.
The petition calls for the Council to put a much greater focus on investing in parks and play areas across the High Peak.
Kevin Kirkham is standing for election to High Peak Borough Council in the Cote Heath by-election on Thursday 7 April. This follows the sad death of Keith Savage.
Mr Kirkham lives locally and grew up in the area. He works as a mechanic and has a positive plan to improve local play areas, tackle crime, and fight for more investment in his area.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“Kevin, Linda and I work well as a team. We want to work with residents across the whole Borough to make the High Peak an even better place to live.
“Playgrounds are valuable community assets and provide vital spaces for our young people to exercise and play. I warmly welcome this funding to refurbish Health Grove Play Area.
“Lots of residents have signed my petition on play areas to express their concern about the state of some playgrounds. Let me know if there’s a park or a play area near you that you think needs refurbishment.”
