On Friday 17th July, a bid to build 38 homes on a parcel of grazing land in Whitfield was turned down by the High Peak Borough Council planning committee.
MP for High Peak, Robert Largan, welcomed the decision, highlighting that Glossop’s infrastructure needs to catch up with the current housing stock.
Since being elected, Robert has been campaigning for improvements to infrastructure in Glossop and across the High Peak.
The MP has a long running petition calling for no new major housing developments in Glossopdale until the Mottram Bypass & Glossop Spur have been built.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“This is the right decision. The site is totally unsuitable for a housing development this large.
“A huge number of homes have been built in Glossop over the last few years, and that’s put enormous pressure on local infrastructure and public services.
“We need to get the bypass built and the Glossopdale School expansion delivered first!”
