Local MP Robert Largan is working to support local residents impacted by power outages and road closures following Storm Arwen.
Following the adverse weather conditions, a number of local residents are still without power across the High Peak, including in Bagshaw, Blackbrook, Chapel-en-le-Frith, Fairfield, Fernilee, Sparrowpit, Wash Village and Wormhill.
Robert has been raising these issues directly with Electricity North West, and will continue to flag affected areas over the coming hours, so that electricity can be restored as soon as possible.
There are two major faults at the Waterswallows substation in Buxton, causing problems for residents. Over twenty Electricity North West engineers are currently on site, working hard to repair damage to overhead wires urgently. Generators are being considered as an option to provide people with power in the meantime.
If you need to contact Electricity North West yourself, you can contact them by calling 0800 195 4141 or via their website at www.enwl.co.uk.
Robert has asked Electricity North West to prioritise vulnerable customers and their welfare team is being deployed to reach as many affected customers as possible.
Robert has also been in constant contact with Derbyshire County Council, as many residents remain unable to leave their homes due to impassable roads.
You can report routes that require gritting to Derbyshire County Council at https://apps.derbyshire.gov.uk/applications/do-it-now/snowclearance.asp.
Robert is urging residents that need urgent advice or assistance to contact his office by calling 01663 769779 or emailing [email protected].
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I am keenly aware that a number of local residents are still without power across the High Peak.
“I have been working over the weekend to raise these issues directly with Electricity North West, and will continue to do so until these problems are resolved.
“Engineers are working hard in difficult weather conditions to repair damage to overhead wires and restore power. I have asked Electricity North West to contact vulnerable affected customers as a matter of urgency.
“I have also been in contact with the Highways department at Derbyshire County Council, highlighting access problems throughout the day. I have urged the council to provide grit or plough the roads around Blackbrook, Bagshaw and Sparrowpit, so that residents can connect with their family support networks.
“My office and I are continuing to raise issues and push for urgent action for affected residents across the whole High Peak.”
