The Department for Levelling Up, Housing & Communities has today announced that an extra £50 million will be made available to local authorities in England in 2022/23 through a top-up to the Homelessness Prevention Grant. The additional funding will support local authorities to help prevent vulnerable households from becoming homeless.
High Peak is set to receive an additional £28,639 as part of this funding.
This additional £50 million investment builds on the £316 million in funding already available to local authorities through the Homelessness Prevention Grant for 2022/23, bringing total spend through that grant to £366 million. This is part of £2 billion of Government funding to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping over the next three years.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“Since January, I have consistently made the case to the highest levels of Government that more support is needed to help households through the difficult winter ahead.
“I welcome the comprehensive support package put forward by the Government to mitigate the worst of these price rises, support households, and tackle the rising cost of living. This extra funding to support the most vulnerable households in High Peak is particularly welcome news.
“I’ve had a number of meetings with both the Chancellor and the Prime Minister over recent weeks and I will continue to make a strong case for the High Peak.”
