Local MP Robert Largan recently visited Chapel-en-le-Frith Craft Brewing Company based at Chapel-en-le-Frith Post Office.
Chapel-en-le-Frith Craft Brewing Company produce a broad range of handcrafted beers.
Mr Largan met with the owner Tim Boothman, who has been producing and selling beer commercially since 2015 when he transformed the bakehouse at the rear of the post office into a brewery and taproom.
Running a microbrewery is an incredibly labour intensive process. Nonetheless, Tim runs the brewery and the local post office at the same time.
Tim’s passion for brewing has continued to grow, and he now teaches others how the secrets of his craft.
Mr Largan discussed the Autumn Budget 2021 with the local business owner, which confirmed that the alcohol duty regime is to undergo a major simplification.
The new system will reduce the number of main rates from 15 to 6 and tax products in proportion to their alcohol content. This follows Mr Largan’s campaign for a reduced rate of Beer Duty on draught beer.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“This brilliant local business makes excellent beer, available on draught at the Old Cell Ale Bar and the Whaley Nook – a true Chapel institution.
“Tim runs a beer and brew club for brewing and drinking enthusiasts and is always happy to talk to people about the brewery. If you are up this way, make sure you pop into the post office.”
