Last Saturday (18 March) Robert Largan MP lent a hand lambing at Aston Hall Farm in the High Peak.
The local MP joined Hope Valley farmer Joe Dalton and Derbyshire National Farmers Union representative Andrew Critchlow.
Mr Largan rolled up his sleeves and met some furry friends as part of the annual lambing season, where the new spring lambs are born.
The visit was part of a move to promote awareness of lambing season, particularly for dog walkers.
High Peak’s MP has urged residents and visitors to be mindful of lambing season when out and about in the countryside. People should be extra careful and keep dogs on leads and not take dogs near animals that could be heavily pregnant.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, said:
“Lambing season has arrived in High Peak! I loved spending time with some brand new spring lambs!
“We live in a beautiful part of the world and I love walking in the countryside. But please do be mindful during lambing season. Make sure you keep your dog on a lead when in the vicinity of spring lambs and ewes waiting to lamb.
“We all have a responsibility to conserve our countryside and protect local farm animals, wildlife and our environment. Let’s all do our bit to respect, protect and enjoy the Peak District!”
