Hardworking local MP, Robert Largan, has this week voiced his concern about the impact that roadworks due to start next week will have on commuters.
Highways England are due to start drainage works at the bus stop near the A57 Gun Inn from Monday 23 November, for approximately two weeks.
Highways England will be closing one lane westbound (towards the motorway) 24/7 during this period due to the depth of the excavations for the drainage works. They will be working overnight, using three-way temporary traffic lights at the Gun Inn junction.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“Although these works clearly need to be carried out at some point, I’m glad that Highways England will be carrying out the majority of the work during the current lockdown, and I hope that this lessens the impact on commuters.
“Clearly there will still be traffic problems though, so I would urge those who can work from home to do so where possible, to try to minimise any disruption.”
