Following the closure of Barclays bank branches in Glossop and Buxton on 27 August 2021, Local MP Robert Largan is reassuring constituents that alternative banking provision is available for customers at local post offices.
The nearest three Post Office branches to the Buxton branch closure are:
1. Buxton PO, 97-103 Spring Gardens, Buxton, SK17 6AA
2. Higher Buxton PO, 12a High Street, Buxton, SK17 6EU
3. Dove Holes PO, Methodist Church, Buxton Road, Dove Holes, Buxton, SK17 8DW
The nearest three post office branches to the Glossop branch closure are:
1. Glossop PO, Norfolk Street, Glossop, SK13 8BS
2. Simmondley PO, 3 Pennine Road, Glossop, SK13 6NN
3. Hadfield PO, 120-122 Station Road, Hadfield, Glossop, SK13 1AN
These Post Offices are well-equipped to meet the demand for everyday banking services, including deposits and withdrawals.
This is due to the Government’s ‘post office access criteria’, which ensure that all communities can be conveniently served at their nearest post office branch.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“The closure of the Barclays branches in Buxton and Glossop is disappointing, especially with all the additional investment going into the town centres.
“Everyone will still have access to nearby cash machines and can carry out everyday transactions at the Post Office.
“I have asked Barclays to provide customers who don’t use telephone or internet banking with extra support to ensure they continue to access all the services they currently use.
“If you are one of the people impacted by these closures, do get in touch with me, and I will do what I can to help and support.
“I want to make sure these properties are not left vacant. These sites could be big opportunities for new businesses in the centre of Glossop and Buxton.”
