Local MP Robert Largan has announced that more local businesses have agreed to exhibit at the first-ever High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair.
A range of local employers, including Swizzels, Street Crane, Breedon Cement Works, Clover Chemicals, Avanti Conveyors, Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, and Ensana Buxton Crescent Hotel, have now signed up to Robert Largan’s Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair.
They join a number of nationally recognised employers which have already agreed to exhibit at the event, including JCB, Manchester Airport, Mitie, and Tarmac.
The event will take place on Friday 29th October 2021 at Chapel-en-le-Frith High School from 10 am until 2 pm and will be open to all High Peak residents with free admission.
In addition, the event will also include:
• Free Job Skills Workshop run by The Zink Project
• Apprenticeships Advice from the Apprenticeships Support & Knowledge Programme
• Interview & CV-Writing Skills from Buxton & Leek College
• Impartial adult careers advice from Derbyshire County Council
• A Kickstart stall offering placements at a range of employers
Robert Largan is also working in conjunction with the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership to bring together both locally and nationally recognised businesses and to ensure that school leavers and jobseekers alike across the High Peak have access to these exciting opportunities.
All local businesses and employers interested in taking part are encouraged to get in touch with Robert to register their interest and ask any questions they might have.
Emily Carter, from the D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership, commented:
“D2N2 Local Enterprise Partnership Careers Hub is proud to be working in partnership with Robert Largan MP on this exciting Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair in the High Peak this October.
“Young people cannot be what they cannot see. The coronavirus pandemic prevented many employability and skills activities between education and employers for young people and, for rural communities, the handover to a virtual world is not always easy.
“It is vital we ensure all young people in the High Peak are supported to make their next step in life, whatever pathway that might be.”
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I’m really excited to announce more local employers have agreed to exhibit at the first-ever High Peak Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair.
“Local employers such as Swizzels, Street Crane, Breedon, and Clover Chemicals are so important to our communities across the High Peak.
“That’s why I am so pleased to welcome them to exhibit at my Jobs and Apprenticeships Fair. I hope that this event will help lots of local people into work or secure an apprenticeship with these highly recognised High Peak employers.
“I encourage any more businesses or organisations that would like to attend to get in touch to register your interest. I hope to see as many of you there as possible.”
