Recently, Robert Largan MP (High Peak), William Wragg MP (Hazel Grove), and David Rutley MP (Macclesfield) held a virtual summit with Derbyshire County Council, High Peak Borough Council, Cheshire East Council and Stockport Council to discuss the growing traffic problems on the A6.
Areas of discussion included looking at better traffic light signalling, reviewing problems at bottleneck junctions, and encouraging a shift away from cars and towards public transport and cycling where possible. The four local councils have agreed to work together to devise improvements to the major road.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“I am working with my parliamentary neighbours to instil a more co-ordinated approach across local authority boundaries, which will help tackle the growing traffic problems on the A6 corridor.
“I’m pleased the local councils have agreed to work together to look for ways to improve the traffic problems. There is plenty more work to do after the design stage, but we are—thanks to this collaboration—moving in the right direction.”
