High Peak MP Robert Largan has secured a parliamentary debate in Westminster Hall on breast cancer screening.
The High Peak MP has launched an online petition campaign to reinstate mobile screening units in Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith, and New Mills after the NHS commissioning decision to relocate all of them to Bakewell due to pressures of the coronavirus pandemic.
Nearly 2,000 people have signed Robert Largan MP’s petition. You can add your name at: www.robertlargan.co.uk/screening.
Robert Largan MP will also be meeting with Minister for Prevention, Public Health and Primary Care ahead of the debate to raise his concerns.
The debate will give parliamentarians, from across all parties, an opportunity to discuss how the coronavirus pandemic has impacted people’s access to breast cancer screening services in their local areas.
The debate will take place next Wednesday (16 December) at 2:30pm, and can be watched via Parliamentlive.tv.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“I’m really pleased that, as part of my campaign to get the mobile breast cancer screening units reinstated to the High Peak, I have secured a debate in Parliament next Wednesday.
“This will be a chance for me to make the case for reinstating the mobile screening units to Buxton, Chapel-en-le-Frith and New Mills, which have been withdrawn. I’m doing everything I can to get this service back in the High Peak.”
