Robert Largan MP has warmly welcomed £1.6 million of investment by the Conservative Government in High Peak’s grassroots sporting facilities.
More than 1,700 multi-sport facilities across the UK are set to receive their share of £68 million in yet more levelling up funding, with a focus on improving access to high quality premises in underprivileged areas.
New Mills Juniors FC will receive a total of £29,406 in funding allocated to fund their floodlights and drainage on the Ollersett playing fields.
The Government has granted £7,504 in funding to Tintwistle Athletic FC for fencing at West Drive Football Centre.
The Government has also awarded Glossopdale School £3,600 to go towards goalposts.
A bid from Derbyshire County Council was also successful, with £1,555,000 being granted to the local authority to fund an artificial grass pitch and changing rooms for Glossop North End Community Club on the Cemetery Road playing fields.
The investment in the High Peak’s sporting facilities in total comes to £1,595,510, which will help to deliver the huge mental health and wellbeing benefits associated with sport.
