Robert Largan, High Peak’s Conservative parliamentary candidate has welcomed new funding to speed up locally-led building of new homes in High Peak.
£467,688 has been awarded to High Peak Borough Council, to build 83 new homes in High Peak.
This funding is part of the Conservative Government’s £450 million Local Authority Accelerated Construction Programme, spearheaded by Communities Secretary James Brokenshire MP, which is designed to support local authorities with a range of work required to prepare specific sites for immediate development, enabling new homes to be built faster and to suit local communities’ bespoke requirements.
The Conservatives are committed to helping communities across the country such as High Peak build well-designed homes to meet our ambitious target of delivering 300,000 homes a year by the mid-2020s.
Commenting, Robert Largan said:
“The Conservatives are committed to building more, better homes so that more hard-working people in High Peak have the opportunity to own their own home.
“This announcement will enable High Peak Borough Council to build 83 new homes in High Peak, helping more people to get on the housing ladder and contributing to the Conservative Government’s plans to build 300,000 new homes a year by the mid-2020s.”
Minister of State for Housing, Kit Malthouse MP, said:
“We haven’t built enough homes in this country for far too long – and our accelerated construction programme is here to change that, and fast.

“We must keep building more, better, faster to meet our ambition to building 300,000 homes a year by the mid-2020s.”
