MP for High Peak, Robert Largan has visited Reuben’s Retreat at the former Woods Hospital in Glossop.
Reuben’s Retreat is a charity which started two days after Reuben Graham died at just 23 months old. The charity, founded by Reuben’s parents, supports families bereaved after the death of a child, as well as children and young people with life-limiting or threatening illnesses or disabilities and their loved ones.
As a response to the coronavirus pandemic, the charity has been able to offer support to 143 families remotely.
Reuben’s Retreat has delivered happy packages to local families; delivered Easter eggs and crafts to families with life-limited children; hosted three virtual coffee mornings for the parents of life-limited children, and have carried out essential one-to-one telephone support.
Robert commented:
“Reuben’s Retreat do really important work supporting families bereaved after the death of a child, and for children with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions. It was heartening to see the progress they are making in challenging circumstances.”
