Local MP Robert Largan visited Glossopdale School & Sixth Form to meet Year 7 students taking part in a Citizenship day.
Mr Largan gave a talk to the year group on how laws are made in Parliament and the importance of our democratic rights. Mr Largan also discussed the voting system, elections, and the role of political parties.
After the talk, Robert took part in a question-and-answer session with students. The questions were wide-ranging, with topics as diverse as Gamesley Station and Ed Sheeran.
This follows the High Peak MP’s successful campaign for the £4million expansion of Glossopdale School. Construction started earlier this year and is due to be complete by next Spring, creating an extra 240 local places for children in the area.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I’ve been at Glossopdale School & Sixth Form this morning, talking to Year 7 pupils and doing a Q&A with them as part of their education on citizenship.
“They were a great bunch of children, full of interesting and thought-provoking questions on everything from Gamesley Station to Ed Sheeran.
“I am also incredibly pleased that construction of the £4million expansion to the school is now underway. This is a vital project for families in the High Peak which I am proud to have helped deliver.”
