High Peak MP Robert Largan and Hazel Grove MP William Wragg MP met with local businesses in the coach industry to listen to the challenges they are facing due to Coronavirus.
The meeting included representatives from Smiths of Marple, Andrews of Tideswell, Scania, and EuroRider Ltd. Many of High Peak’s hospitality businesses rely on visitors coming to the Peak District on coach trips.
The meeting took place over the summer at the Old Hall Inn in Chinley.
The Government is working with the bus and coach industry to help transport services adapt to Covid-secure guideline, and support the recovery from the pandemic. This includes discussions regarding the future of emergency funding for the coach sector.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“The coach industry is important for our local tourism and hospitality businesses. The coach industry’s survival will be key for Peak District tourism. The discussion we held was important and I am doing what I can to press Ministers to listen to the concerns of the industry.”
