On Wednesday 8th July, High Peak MP Robert Largan met with the Rail Minister, Chris Heaton-Harris MP, as part of his campaign for Gamesley Station, pressing the Government to deliver much-needed transport links in Glossop.
During the meeting, the High Peak MP made the case for Gamesley Station. The Minister and the local MP discussed the proposals and the benefits a station would bring to Gamesley and the wider Glossopdale area. The Minister confirmed the proposals are under active consideration within the Department for Transport.
Robert has already secured support from Transport for Greater Manchester and Derbyshire Country Council. His petition can be signed on his website robertlargan.co.uk/gamesleystation.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“A railway station for Gamesley would improve transport links, create jobs and transform the lives of so many local people, as well as help reduce traffic in Glossop, Hadfield and Charlesworth.
“Since I've been elected, I've been constantly banging the drum for Gamesley, and we're definitely making progress. For the first time since the 1960s, the campaign for Gamesley Station is firmly back on the agenda in Westminster.
“Please do make sure to sign my petition in support of a station for Gamesley.”
