Local MP Robert Largan has welcomed High Peak Buses' decision to change the timetable of their 185 service.
The route serves families travelling from Haslin and Harpur Hill to Harpur Hill Primary school.
Mr Largan was contacted by Harpur Hill Primary School and the parents of schoolchildren after the bus was frequently late.
The school also complained that even when the bus was on time, the existing timetable did not fit well with the school day.
The issue affected many families in Harpur Hill and Haslin, impacting children's education, so Mr Largan, along with Cllr Linda Grooby, urged the bus company to review the timetable.
The timetable change means the journey now starts 5 minutes earlier to ensure children can get to school on time.
The new timetable can be found here: www.highpeakbuses.com/bus-services/185/.
Robert Largan MP for High Peak commented:
“I warmly welcome the decision by High Peak Buses to change the 185 timetable. This means pupils should now be able to travel to Harpur Hill Primary School on time.
“Given the scale of housing developments locally, it is vital that we have the infrastructure and public services to match. We need more reliable, more frequent bus services that run till later in the evening.”
Councillor Linda Grooby commented:
“I am delighted we have been successful in achieving this result and we are really grateful to High Peak Buses for their help and assistance in achieving this result.”
