Local MP, Robert Largan, recently visited the Ecotek building site project in Gamesley—located on the site of the former Samas Roneo warehouse on Glossop Road.
Since closure, the warehouse had fallen into disrepair and had been a cause for concern for residents until being demolished a few years ago.
Ecotek, in partnership with investment firm Gresham House, purchased the site— their first in the North West—where work has commenced to build 156 homes of mixed tenure, including build-to-rent, open market sale and affordable housing.
As a developer, Ecotek aims at to build sustainable, environmentally friendly dwellings, and estimates that their homes consume up to 50 per cent less energy than standard homes; that they are up to 65 per cent quicker to build, and produce significantly less waste.
This method not only has significant merits to offer the environment, therefore—it also reduces increasingly expensive energy bills that have come about as a consequence of the Ukraine crisis.
Mr Largan visited the site to learn more about the company and its ethos along with its plans for the Gamesley site, which has been named ‘The Crowberries’.
More information on properties to rent or buy can be found online at ecotekhomes.co.uk.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“It was interesting to visit the construction site, as I have been raising several issues on behalf of Gamesley residents, regarding parking around the site. I’m pleased that these issues have now been resolved.
“It’s encouraging to see sustainable, environmentally- friendly homes being built locally. This is one of the first eco-home developments anywhere in the North. Yet another example of the High Peak leading the way in business and innovation.”
