High Peak MP Robert Largan recently visited the headquarters and manufacturing facilities of Street Crane in Chapel-en-le-Frith. Street Crane is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of overhead cranes and hoists, originally formed in 1946.
Street Crane is also an important source of local employment, taking on 18 people this year, including many apprenticeships.
Robert was able to take the chance to discuss many of the issues and opportunities facing the industry at the moment, such as the challenge of maintaining supply chains throughout the pandemic and the closure of factories in Ukraine.
More recently, significant opportunities have opened up in the USA, expanding Street Crane’s already strong network of worldwide partners.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
It was good to visit Street Crane and see first-hand some of the most up-to-date manufacturing facilities in the world, right at the heart of the High Peak.
Street Crane is a proper local success story, at the cutting edge of technology, exporting around the world and employing local people in high skilled jobs. I’m proud to be a champion for local businesses like Street Crane.
