Derbyshire has benefitted from the Government’s pledge to recruit 20,000 new police officers, with an additional 346 officers joining the force.
Since 2019, the Government has recruited an additional 16,753 officers nationally, meaning that they are on-track to meet a key manifesto commitment to 20,000 new officers.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, has welcomed the additional officers, who will add to Derbyshire Constabulary’s already-growing regional force.
The additional officers are another example of the Government providing a long-term investment in law and order.
Derbyshire now has 2,173 officers – 63 more than in 2010.
This follows the news that High Peak MP Robert Largan will be holding a Community Policing Forum in Bamford later this month. The Forum will give Bamford residents the opportunity to raise any concerns they have with local Police.
The meeting will be conducted virtually on Tuesday 28th February at 8pm. Residents can sign up to the meeting and submit questions in advance at the following address: www.robertlargan.co.uk/BamfordPolicingForum.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I welcome the Conservative Government’s commitment to law and order.
“This investment shows that the Government is on track to keep its manifesto pledge to recruit 20,000 more police officers and Derbyshire is already benefitting significantly from this.
“The additional officers will go a long way for our local Constabulary. They work so hard and I am glad that the Government is backing them with more funding to recruit more officers.
“I’ll keep working with Derbyshire Police and Central Government to make the High Peak an even safer place to live!”
