Robert Largan MP has today welcomed the news that local NHS trusts have been allocated additional funding to upgrade their hospital facilities ahead of winter. This includes Stepping Hill Hospital, Tameside Hospital, Macclesfield Hospital and Chesterfield Hospital.
Hospitals can use the new funding to expand waiting areas and increase the number of treatment cubicles, helping them boost A&E capacity by providing additional space, reducing overcrowding and improving infection control measures.
They could also increase the provision of same day emergency care and improve patient flow in the hospital to help the NHS respond to winter pressures and the risk from further outbreaks of coronavirus.
This funding is on top of the funding already allocated to build new urgent care centres at both Stepping Hill Hospital and Tameside Hospital.
Robert commented:
“The NHS has saved my life twice and I will always defend it and fight for local services. This additional funding to help our local hospitals prepare for the coming winter is welcome news. It is essential that we do all we can to support the NHS during this difficult time.”
