Local MP, Robert Largan has recently worked with EE to improve mobile coverage in Chapel-en-le-Frith.
Robert was contacted by Chapel-en-le-Frith residents about poor EE mobile phone signal. Robert contacted EE who have had their technical specialists review the local mast.
EE found that there are too many people connected to the mast and it is struggling to handle all the demand. EE have now started carrying out work to update the local mast for Chapel-en-le-Frith, which will improve its capabilities.
EE expect to be complete the work in the next few days and this should lead to significant improvements in mobile phone signal in the area.
The Shared Rural Network (SRN) agreement between Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) and the Government, worth £1billion, will share investment costs between MNOs and the Government and increase 4G mobile coverage throughout the UK to 95 per cent by the end of 2025, irrespective of what network provider people use.
It will be underpinned by a legally binding coverage commitment from each operator. The SRN will lead to increases in coverage in some areas by more than a third.
Robert Largan, MP for the High Peak commented:
“I know how frustrating this can be and recognise how important it is that we spread mobile coverage across the entire UK.
“I believe no part of the country should be left behind when it comes to mobile connectivity and the opportunities it can bring.
“This is positive news, if you have similar problems with your local mobile phone coverage, drop me an email on [email protected] or call 01663 769779.”
