High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed the news that the Canal & River Trust have successfully tendered and signed a contract to fix the roof of Whaley Bridge Transhipment Wharehouse.

The local landmark has badly needed roof repairs for many years and this announcement represents a big step forward for preserving a key piece of Whaley Bridge’s heritage.

The announcement follows a meeting between the High Peak MP and representatives from the Canal & River Trust to discuss the roof earlier this year.
