The Prime Minister has announced a £1.8 billion cash injection for the NHS to ensure frontline services have the funding they need – delivering on his pledge on the steps of Downing Street. This includes a £850 million package for 20 hospitals to upgrade outdated facilities and equipment, helping to improve patient care and save more lives.
For people across, the High Peak the Prime Minister has made £30.6 million to provide a new Emergency Care Campus Development at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport, incorporating an Urgent Treatment Centre, GP assessment unit and Planned Investigation Unit and £16.3 million available for emergency and urgent care facilities at Tameside Hospital, to make a real difference to the lives of doctors, nurses, and of patients.
This is in addition to the new funding announced last year, where the Conservative Government pledged an extra £33.9 billion cash to the NHS by 2023-24 – the biggest cash injection in its history.
Commenting, Robert Largan, the Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for the High Peak said:
“The NHS has been there for us whenever we need it for 71 years, it has saved my life twice and I will always fight to defend it and stand up for local services. This new funding, that I have been campaigning for, will make a real difference to the lives of NHS doctors, nurses, and above all, of patients.
“I am delighted that Stepping Hell and Tameside Hospitals are receiving a total of £46.9 million of funding for Emergency Care Campus Development and urgent and emergency care facilities. This will upgrade the hospital, and ultimately improve care and treatment to patients all across the High Peak.
“The Conservatives are committed to making sure frontline services have the funding they need – meaning more beds, new wards, and extra life-saving equipment to ensure patients continue to receive world-class care.”
