Conservative Candidate for High Peak and Glossop resident, Robert Largan, has welcomed the announcement earlier today by Derbyshire County Council that they will be providing an additional 40 places at Glossopdale School.
Glossopdale School received a higher than the usual number of applications this year due to the recent investment in the new building making it more attractive. And in common with many other areas of the country, this autumn’s intake being larger than the usual year group.
Derbyshire County Council had already prepared by releasing an additional 20 places taking the school’s total intake to 220 instead of 200.
But after listening to parents’ concerns following the announcement of school places earlier this month, the Council took the decision to release a further 20 places to help meet the increased demand and offer them their preferred choice of school where possible.
High Peak Conservative Candidate Robert Largan commented:
“This has been a huge concern for a lot of parents in Glossop and many have raised it on the doors with me. I raised the issue with our excellent county councillors, Jean & George Wharmby, and I’m really pleased that the Council have responded with positive action.”
