High Peak MP Robert Largan has this week written to the Mayor of Greater Manchester, Andy Burnham, to urge him to allow High Peak residents to use household waste and recycling centres in Bredbury and Stalybridge.
This comes following the news that although Derbyshire County Council is looking at trying to re-open local recycling centres as soon as possible, there are structural problems with the building at Glossop recycling centre which means it might not be possible to reopen it soon.
Robert Largan MP said:
“I’ve been pushing Derbyshire County Council to do everything they can to re-open their household recycling centres as soon as possible, and I’m glad that they’re looking at trying to do so.
“The recycling centres being closed has sadly led to an increase in fly-tipping across the High Peak, so the sooner they can re-open the better.
“I’ve also written to Andy Burnham to ask that he allows High Peak residents to use the nearby recycling centres in Bredbury and Stalybridge. We need to work together and not get too hung up on county borders.”
