High Peak MP Robert Largan held a virtual mentoring session with job seekers, organised by Buxton Jobcentre.
Robert Largan MP discussed how he started looking for work during the last economic downturn, and the challenges facing job seekers. Robert also provided encouragement and advice and will continue working with Buxton Jobcentre in the future to organise a jobs fair.
The Government has recently launched the £2 billion Kickstart Scheme, creating thousands of work placements for young people, putting them at the heart of the recovery from the coronavirus crisis and opening up opportunities for a new generation. The Scheme provided six-month Government-subsidised work placements for people aged 16-24 who receive Universal Credit.
Jobcentres can give businesses access to bespoke online training packages to help employ new staff. They can also offer advice about apprenticeships, Kickstart and disability services.

Robert Largan MP commented:
“It is a really difficult time for people looking for work due to the impact of Covid, but there are still a lot of opportunities out there, especially with the new Kickstart Scheme. I am determined to do all I can to help local people during this challenging time to find work.”
