The Department for Education has agreed to enter into a Funding Agreement to allow Glossopdale School to become a sponsored academy with The True Learning Partnership.
The date of conversion will be 1 December 2020 and Derbyshire County Council will cease maintaining the school from that date.
Last May, following a campaign from High Peak MP, Robert Largan to extend the school, Derbyshire County Council agreed to expand Glossopdale School.
The £4million expansion will provide an extra 240 places on the site at Newshaw Lane in Hadfield. Construction can begin as soon as planning permission is granted.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“I am very pleased that the Department for Education and Glossopdale School has entered into a funding agreement.
“This funding settlement will secure the long-term future of the school, and I hope it will grow from strength to strength following the expansion.”
