High Peak MP Robert Largan welcomed the news that a third High Peak vaccination centre is due to open this week.
Two vaccination centres are already up and running at Glossop Cricket Club and Thornbrook Surgery in Chapel-en-le-Frith, vaccinating local people as part of Phase One of the national rollout of the vaccine.
The third vaccination centre will be based at Buxton Medical Practice on Temple Road, Buxton, SK17 9BZ.
The first wave of patients is now being contacted and invited to attend appointments.
People are advised not to ring their GP Practice for an appointment. Patients will either receive a text message or a phone call to book an appointment.
Similarly, people are requested not to come down to Buxton Medical Practice without an appointment as you will not be offered a vaccine.
Robert Largan MP said:
“This is great news and I want to thank all the local NHS staff who have worked hard to get this third centre set up.
“I want to make certain that we get the vaccine rolled out as quickly as possible and that everyone is able to access a vaccination centre, including those in New Mills. The brilliant New Mills & District Volunteer Centre is providing free transport to attend vaccination appointments at Thornbrook Surgery in Chapel-en-le-Frith. You can arrange transport by calling 01663 744196.”
