High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed the news of a new Covid Community Testing Centre. It is due to open at Pavilion Gardens in Buxton from Wednesday 17 February.
Community testing is designed to reduce the number of cases in a community by identifying people who have Covid but are not showing any symptoms.
The centre will operate seven days a week from 9am to 7pm. Residents can get a test at the centre, including if they do not have any Covid symptoms, do not need to book, and can turn up at a time convenient to them.
More information about Community Testing can be found here: https://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/social-health/health-and-wellbeing/health…
If you have symptoms, you should still book a test as normal here: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
This follows the announcement by the Government that it is expanding the offer of rapid testing to all businesses in sectors which have remained open in lockdown, which will help save lives as we continue to stop the spread of the virus.
Robert Largan MP commented:
“Testing is key to breaking the chains of transmission. By strengthening testing, we can support the work in getting the British people vaccinated.
“That is why I am really pleased that we have got a community testing centre in the High Peak. This is a positive step forward to stopping Covid spreading locally and saving lives. We will get through this, together!”
