Due to the cold weather over the last few days, Cold Weather Payments have been triggered for eligible people living in the SK13, SK17, SK22, SK23 and S33 postcodes.
Eligible residents will receive £25 for each 7-day period where the temperature is on or below zero degrees Celsius. The alert was triggered on 5/2/2021 for the period 5/2/2021 to 11/2/2021.
Cold Weather Payments are made to recipients of selected benefits. To trigger the payments, the average temperature at a specified weather station must be recorded as, or forecast to be, 0°C or below for seven consecutive days.
Residents don't need to apply; payments should be made automatically. If residents think they should receive a payment and don't, they can contact the local pension centre or job centre. Residents on Universal Credit can call the helpline on 0800 328 5644.

Robert Largan MP commented:
“No-one should struggle to afford to keep their home at a reasonable temperature in a modern society.
“If you think you should receive a payment and don’t, get in touch with me and I'll try my best to help.”
