Fenrilee will be upgraded to superfast broadband after High Peak MP Robert Largan raised the issue with Openreach on behalf of local residents.
Openreach is working towards providing their Superfast Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) broadband to Fernilee soon, after confirming that engineers are making good progress with their work in the area.
The estimated fibre broadband speeds that will become available to residents’ homes range between 45 – 66 Mbps, meaning residents will be able to do most of the things they want to online such a streaming on multiple devices at the same time.
Providing Openreach doesn’t come across any unexpected problems, and all goes to plan with their surveys and engineering work, superfast broadband should be available for residents to order within the next six months.
Last year, the Chancellor made a £5 billion commitment to support the roll-out of gigabit-capable broadband to the hardest to reach areas of the UK.
Openreach has included the High Peak in its plans to roll out full-fibre broadband to 'hard to reach' communities. This includes 15 new locally-based engineering jobs to help improve existing services and speed up the roll-out of ultra-fast broadband.

Robert Largan, MP for the High Peak, said:
“I’m pleased that Fernilee will be upgraded to superfast fibre broadband.
“Since being elected I’ve been campaigning for the whole of the High Peak to be upgraded to superfast fibre broadband.
“There is more work to be done but this is an important step in ensuring everyone in Fernilee has access to a good level of service.”
