Local MP Robert Largan is delighted to confirm that High Peak’s arts and culture sector have been awarded over £432,000 in grants from the Culture Recovery Fund. This is part of the £390 million second round of grants, allocated to more than 2,700 organisations across England.
The second round of grants include:
• £50,000 for Buxton Arts Festival Ltd, based in Buxton
• £36,900 for Buxton Crescent Heritage Trust, based in Buxton
• £240,960 for Buxton Opera House, based in Buxton
• £87,132 for Carrot Productions, based in Glossop
• £18,000 for Old Hall Hotel Ltd, based in Buxton
Nearly all of the original £1.57 billion has been awarded, with over £1.2 billion of grants to be offered in the coming weeks. The High Peak MP helped secure over £600,000 of funding for High Peak, including the Buxton Opera House and the Buxton International Festival, as a result of the first round of grants.
In the recent Budget 2021, the Chancellor announced an extra £300 million for the Culture Recovery Fund to help the arts and culture sector to get through this difficult period and prepare for reopening in the summer. Details on the third round of the Culture Recovery Fund will be published in due course.
Ahead of the Budget 2021 and today’s announcement, the High Peak MP delivered a speech in the House of Commons to make the case for local arts and culture, urging the Government to maintain its support for these vital institutions.
