High Peak MP Robert Largan has welcomed the announcement that Derby and Derbyshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) will resume the rollout of its Medicine Order Line (MOL) on 11 August, helping to reduce medicines waste.
It has been estimated that over £300 million per year of NHS prescribed medicines were wasted in England in 2015.
The MOL, since its launch in December 2017, has saved over £10 million of prescribed medicines waste, and now serves 63 per cent of GP practices in Derby and Derbyshire.
When the pandemic began, the rollout of MOL was put on hold for 2020/21 but will resume next month. More local GP practices will be joining the MOL on 11 August, including:
• Arden House Medical Practice
• Goyt Valley Medical Practice
• Sett Valley Medical Centre
• Thornbrook Surgery
The MOL service’s opening hours are 08:00 to 16:00 on Monday to Friday, except on public holidays. Patients can request a repeat prescription by calling 01246 588860 to speak with a health professional.
