Robert Largan, MP for the High Peak, thanked local postmen and women for their hard work during the pandemic during a visit to Buxton Delivery Office.
The High Peak MP visited Buxton Delivery Office to see first-hand the hard work of the local postmen and women delivering during the pandemic, who continue to play a vital role in keeping communities connected.
Robert Largan MP was shown around the office by the Delivery Office Manager and was introduced to the postmen and women, who have been pulling out all the stops to sort and deliver mail across the High Peak during the pandemic.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak said:
“I got up early this morning to visit Buxton Delivery Office to meet with Royal Mail staff and thank them for their hard work over the pandemic.
“They worked throughout lockdown, playing a vital role in keeping the country going. I also went out to deliver a round in Buxton with Paul.
“My dad was a postman and a trade union rep, so the profession has a very special place in my heart. Thanks to all Royal Mail staff for their amazing hard work!”
Caroline Newton-Phillips, Royal Mail Delivery Office Manager, said:
“Royal Mail invited Robert Largan MP to visit the delivery office to thank postal workers who have worked hard to maintain deliveries throughout the pandemic, despite the many challenges they have faced throughout the period.
“With the need to implement social distancing, the whole operation had to change almost overnight, and staff have adapted quickly, and worked well with their managers and one another, to do their best for the community they serve.
“They have been delivering much greater volumes of parcels since the pandemic started, as well as vital test kits and vaccination letters. The kindness of customers who have thanked their postie on delivery has been humbling.
“We at Royal Mail greatly appreciated Robert’s visit, and for taking the time to talk to postal workers directly about their experiences. We know how much people rely on us, so it is really good to have that recognition from the local Member of Parliament as we seek to get back to normal.”
