High Peak MP Robert Largan recently visited the Nestlé Waters Buxton bottling plant to talk to staff and tour their new factory.  
 
Robert met the Managing Director, Grant McKenzie, and Factory Manager, Jez McInerney, to learn more about the process of getting Buxton’s famous and refreshing spring water from its source under the High Peak to the supermarket shelves, replete with the Buxton Natural Mineral Water brand.
 
The Nestlé Waters facility in Buxton is the home of that iconic brand, and is the first site in the UK to achieve secure platinum status for water stewardship. 

The bottling plant is currently implementing ambitious plans to become more sustainable, planning to make every one of its bottles from 100 per cent recycled plastic by the end of 2021.   
 
Robert was also able to visit Lightwood Nature Reserve—a 92-acre site managed by Nestlé Waters. 

The Nature Reserve is key to natural flood management plans for the locality, whilst also providing a recreation area for local residents and sustaining a variety of local wildlife.

“It was also great to discuss their plans for flood mitigation at Lightwood Nature Reserve, which I hope will make a real difference for residents of Lightwood Road and their properties.
 
“Nestlé Waters has signed up to take part later this month in my High Peak Jobs & Apprenticeships Fair too, which is brilliant news. 

“Their Buxton apprenticeship scheme is fantastic, and I’m excited to have secured another major local employer to take part in the event—one more route through which our young people will acquire new skills whilst earning a good wage.”
