The Crispy Cod, a well-known local Fish and Chip Shop in New Mills, has been crowned the best takeaway in SK22 as part of Robert Largan MP's High Peak Best Takeaway Awards.
Earlier this year, the local MP launched his takeaway competition to find the best local takeaways in the whole of the High Peak.
David Small, who runs The Crispy Cod, was presented with a certificate by Robert in his store on New Mills High Street. The Crispy Cod adds another accolade to its name after being called 'the best chippy in the High Peak' by one review on TripAdvisor.
All independent High Peak takeaways were eligible, whether long-established or if they started offering takeaways during the pandemic. Other winners from the remaining postcodes around the High Peak will be announced soon.
Last year, after being inspired by Marcus Rashford's campaigning on Free School Meals, the chippy offered a 'Marcus special' (a free portion of small sausage and chips) to all school children at lunchtime over October half-term.

Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
"A huge congratulations to David Small and the team at The Crispy Cod in New Mills, which was voted the best takeaway in the SK22 postcode by local people, as part of my High Peak Best Takeaway Awards.
"I got some food today after presenting the award, and I can promise you; they are deserved winners!"
