Local MP Robert Largan was full of praise for Buxton FC during his visit to the Tarmac Silverlands Stadium.
Mr Largan met with the Chairman of Buxton FC Dave Hopkins to discuss anti-social behaviour and parking problems on match days after residents raised concerns. They both agreed to work together proactively on this issue, to minimise disturbance to residents on match days whilst also continuing to promote the recent success of the club.
The local MP was also taken on a tour around the stadium to see their match day facilities. Whilst there, Mr Largan learnt how the club is providing opportunities to young people in the High Peak. The club are working with the University of Derby and Buxton & Leek College to provide elite football training programmes and full-time educational courses.
The non-league side has been on a successful FA Cup run, after beating York City FC in the second round. Their next match in the FA Cup is against league one side Morecambe FC.
Robert Largan, MP for High Peak, commented:
“I know that many local residents have been concerned about the disruption of match days at Buxton. After meeting with the Chairman of the club, I have agreed to work constructively with him to see how we can minimise disruption for residents in the future.
“I am also impressed by the club’s football academy and the opportunities they have provided to young people across the High Peak.
“Buxton Football Club are having a fantastic season and I am incredibly proud of the side’s success. I will be cheering the whole team on in their FA Cup match against Morecambe.”
